WinGD secures engine order for 12-vessel VLCC newbuild programme

WinGD has secured an order to supply main engines for a series of 12 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) being built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, China, for Dynacom, supporting the delivery of a new generation of efficient, reliable and regulation-ready tanker tonnage.

The 12 vessels will each be powered by a WinGD 6X82-2.0 low-speed engine and equipped with scrubber and high-pressure selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to ensure compliance with current IMO emissions requirements while delivering high levels of operational efficiency.

The order comes amid strong momentum in the VLCC sector, with owners placing significant investment in modern vessels designed to enhance efficiency, competitiveness and long-term operational performance. Recent ordering activity reflects confidence in the long-term fundamentals of the crude tanker market, as well as the need to renew an ageing global fleet with modern, fuel-efficient tonnage.
